30 Floors Up Roblox zombies: fighting and hordes

The hit-and-step-back rhythm

  1. Room behind youNever fight in a narrow entry
  2. Hit onceA clean hit staggers it
  3. Step backTwo paces; stamina recovers
  4. Hit as it steps inThen repeat
The fighting loop every guide and long recording settles on; repeat until the zombie drops.

Short answer: hit a zombie once, step back while it recovers, then hit again as it steps in. Every swing costs stamina and a miss leaves you open, so fight one or two at a time in a space where you can back up, and run from groups. Noise (running, dropped metal, dragged furniture, alarms, cutting chains) pulls them to you, and cleared hallways fill up again.

How do you kill zombies?

The rhythm every guide and long recording settles on:

  1. Let it come to you. Stand where you have room behind you; a narrow entryway is the worst place to fight.
  2. Hit once. A clean hit staggers the zombie for a moment.
  3. Step back a couple of paces while your stamina recovers.
  4. Hit again as it steps forward. Repeat.

Done right, players clear single zombies without taking damage. Done wrong (spamming swings, missing at point-blank range) the stamina bar empties and you cannot fight back. Players miss a lot at first; swing when the zombie is fully in reach, not as it approaches.

Weapon choice matters less than reach: the baseball bat is the most used because its reach makes the step-back easy (weapons).

When should you run instead?

  • More than two at once, or any group in a corridor.
  • Runners: players have met faster zombies that sprint at them; back off into a room and close the door rather than trading hits.
  • Low health: health does not come back without bandages (health).
  • At night: you cannot see them coming after the power cut.

Closing a door behind you works: zombies bang on it but players regularly escaped by slipping through and shutting it. They can still break doors down given time.

What draws zombies?

The survival book lists the noises: running, dropped metal and dragging furniture. Players also learned the hard way that an alarm brings everything on the floor, and a note in the building warns that cutting the fire-door chain is loud. Use noise on purpose: the same note suggests getting them “listening to something else first” before a loud job.

Do zombies come back?

Yes. One player cleared floor 29 and the stairs, then found new zombies there on the way back; a neighbor in the same run complains that he takes them down “and they respawn”. Treat a cleared floor as clear for the current trip only.

Zombies also attack you, not the neighbors: an escorted neighbor walking behind you was ignored while every zombie went for the player.

What are hordes?

Some nights the game warns that “the crowd comes tonight”, then “a crowd is spilling through the corridor”. These nights end with zombies scratching and banging on your door. Be home, locked in and barricaded before dark on those days (barricades). One guide reports that leaving the hallway breaker alone sets off an alarm on day 4 that draws the whole floor to your door (power and breaker).

You cannot search dead zombies for loot.

Which zombies have players met?

Type What players saw
Hallway zombies The common kind: slow, gather at your door, scratch and bang on it
Runners Faster ones that sprint at you; seen in at least two runs
The crowd A horde on announced nights (“the crowd comes tonight”) that pushes against doors
Chained zombies Zombies held back behind a chained gate in one recording
Turned neighbors One guide found a neighbor it had ignored roaming his flat as a zombie the next day

The messages that warn you

The game describes sounds in words, and they are your early warning: “a stairwell door bangs”, “uneven footsteps in the corridor”, “something is gathering in the corridor”, “someone is approaching from the east, slow footsteps”, “the crowd drifted upstairs”. When one appears, look through the peephole before you open anything.
