Every key players have found

Which key first?

1. Triangular key, because the lift shaft is how you move once the stairs fill up. Players who left it behind had to go all the way back for it with zombies around.
2. Emergency key, because it leads to the wrench, which opens bolted vents and the water valve on floor 27 (tools).
3. The rest as quests and locked doors ask for them.

Can you skip a key?

Sometimes. If you do not have the emergency key, the hammer from the toolbox breaks into the emergency room, where the bolt cutters are. And vents drop you into apartments locked from inside without their keys (vents).

Keep or drop?

Keys take an inventory slot like anything else. Drop them at home rather than throwing them away: one guide’s advice is to remember where you put every item, because something useless now opens the next locked section.

Locks you cannot open yet

Not every lock has a known key. Recordings show:

• A keypad lock on floor 27, next to the valve room; nobody has found the code.
• A second vent that asked for a key rather than a tool.
• Boarded and locked doors on floors 29 and 18.
• The roof stair door, blocked from the roof side.
