# 30 Floors Up Roblox tools and what they open
The wrench route

_How a 7 November walkthrough got the adjustable wrench and what it opened._

**Short answer:** the **screwdriver** opens vent grates, the **adjustable wrench** opens bolted vents and the **water valve on floor 27**, the **hammer** forces doors (Arthur’s, the emergency room), and the **bolt cutters** cut chains, including the main lobby door, loudly. **Screws and a board** repair a broken front door.

## What each tool does

Your own apartment’s toolbox has some of these but, as one guide notes, **not the wrench**, which is why the emergency key matters.

## How do you get the wrench?

The route a 7 November walkthrough shows:

- Get the **emergency key** (linked to the Okafor brothers; [keys](https://30floorsupguide.wiki/items/keys/)).

- Find the **janitor room**, the room next to the elevator on your floor.

- Open its **toolbox** with the emergency key: the adjustable wrench is inside.

Use it on the next bolted vent, then take it to **floor 27** to open the valve riser so the water pumps up to the roof tank ([water](https://30floorsupguide.wiki/survival/water/#after-the-cut)). Players who found a wrench elsewhere (a hallway closet) skipped the key.

## Bolt cutters: when to cut

Every chain cut is **loud**. Arthur Hail’s maintenance note says it outright about the east fire doors: cutting the chain is loud and the stair side is never empty, so get them listening to something else first. Clear the area or make noise elsewhere before you cut ([zombies](https://30floorsupguide.wiki/survival/zombies-and-combat/)).

## Do tools break?

No recording shows a tool breaking or wearing out. Inventory space is the real limit: carry the screwdriver and wrench on trips and leave the rest at home ([backpacks](https://30floorsupguide.wiki/items/backpacks-and-light/)).

## Is the screwdriver a weapon?

No. One player who checked the toolbox found that the hammer counts as a weapon (it showed 23 damage) while the screwdriver does not. Keep the screwdriver for vents and Arthur’s door, and carry a real weapon as well ([weapons](https://30floorsupguide.wiki/items/weapons/)).
